Celebrating 25 Years As An Independent Business on City Road
We are very excited and grateful to be celebrating 25 years as trading as Express Imaging, a small, independent business on City Road in Cardiff. Any Cardiff resident will have a view of City Road but to us it is a much-loved, well-known street, renowned for its eclectic scruffiness and variety of multicultural food outlets, with restaurants close to the centre of Cardiff.
Express Imaging has been in private ownership and operation since 1999. The premises were originally a CarFinder show room and were a laundry in a previous life. In July 1999 the building was purchased, and a major refit took place, bringing in photographic equipment. The new business opened in July of that year with an AGFA MSC300 printer, which was later replaced by an AGFA Dlab2 digital lab to accommodate the growth in digital photography.
We believe that one of the most significant factors contributing to the longevity of Express Imaging has been our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of quality and excellent customer service. Despite the challenges posed by the digital revolution, Express Imaging has adapted and thrived, embracing new technologies while staying true to its roots where the tangible nature of film and the craftsmanship involved in its development hold an irreplaceable charm. In addition to traditional film processing, it offers digital printing services, allowing customers to enjoy the convenience of modern technology without sacrificing quality. We have also expanded our online presence making our services accessible to a broader audience while maintaining the personal touch that sets us apart. In an age where memories are often fleeting Express Imaging can print or save cherished moments for generations to come.
The team is small, dynamic, helpful, and highly skilled at their jobs and customer service skills. Dave Horne is key to the success of Express Imaging, and he has managed the business for 25 years. He is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about anything to do with photography (also cars, gadgets, and watches!) and is always delighted by any challenge put to him. He has a vast experience of wet film processing and film cameras, along with an incredible knowledge of working with digital files. Zoe John has been working with us for more than twelve years and helps by supervising the business along with Dave and in his absence. She is very skilled with design and digital work, a keen photographer herself. Other members of the team have many skills in digital and film, great customer service skills and can perform most of the requests from customers.
